Amicale Steesel 95-91 Sparta: the third quarter proves decisive
After leading 43-37 at halftime, Sparta lost the third quarter 15-28. A strong finish came too late as Amicale won 95-91.
Amicale Steesel beat Sparta 95-91 on Saturday evening. The first two quarters were close: Sparta won the opening period 18-14 and the second 25-23, taking a 43-37 lead into halftime.
The third quarter changed the game. Amicale won it 28-15 and went into the final period up 65-58. Sparta responded with a 33-30 fourth quarter, but a strong finish came too late to erase the deficit. Amicale secured the 95-91 win.
Amicale made 37 baskets from the field to Sparta's 33. Both teams made eight three-pointers. Sparta scored 17 free throws to Amicale's 13.
Jarvis Williams led Sparta with 35 points, while Max Logelin added 21. For Amicale, Conley Phipps scored 30, Landon Seaman 28 and Maid Adrovic 17.
A 43-37 halftime lead had put Sparta in a good position, but after the break the team lost its rhythm and gave up the advantage. Sparta will need to deliver a more consistent performance over all 40 minutes in the coming games. Next up is Etzella Ettelbruck at home on Saturday, 3 October.
